Is there any way to find out the name of a store (in this case a donut store) that has long since went out of business? Like some sort of directory that tells what businesses occupied specific areas at various times? (Because I know the exact address of where the bakery used to be, but it's an car parts store now) Thanks. Sorry Ed, that's not helping. Googling the address just gives me what's CURRENTLY there. Resolved Question: Legality of using business name already in use?

I want to set up an etsy store and website to sell my artwork. The name I want to use for the store is already being used by some business in Wales. I have no idea what type of business it is, but it must be very tiny because they seem to have no website of their possess - I just found just one reference to them on an online business directory. What do you think? Would it be stupid for me to go ahead and use the name? Or OK since they don't do business online and seem to be a tiny operation? I'm hanging on to wish here (took me forever to find a name I liked).... Would the fact that I'm in a different country make a difference? I'm not in the UK. This other business is in the UK. Voting Question: Can I "file search" for a file in the "open" dialog box in Photoshop?

Hello! There's one chilly tool I adore in windows. Typically when I go to file/open, my open dialog box has a "search" box, where I can start typing in a file name, and it begins to load any files/folders with that word. THIS IS A HUUUUUGGE help for me at my business because we have THOUSANDS of directories organized by customer's job number and order name. It's so easy to find a file in every other dialog box, but photoshop won't let you do that! My business is graphic design and printing and looking through folders sometimes takes too much of my time. Is there a way to make the OPEN dialog box have the search box? Is there a fix, or patch, or anything??? Let me add that I'm currently using Windows Vista Home Premium. One more thing... I KNOW that bridge does this, but bridge is too clunky, and the idea is to receive to where I need to be quick.

Once you call their number which is 0203 283 8801 you are greeted with a warm welcome and asked some questions about your physical appearence, your personality and what you are willing to do with a lady. The interviewer will tell you how impressive you are throughout the conversation and evetually tell you that she recommends that you register with them on condition that you pay £249.. The claimed return on that is that you will be booked by ladies requiring male escorts and paying you £120 per hour. If you tend to hesitate registration, you will be getting a series of calls every hour throughout the day, being told that one of the ladies requiring escorts has accepted your profile. The website of these fraudstars is www.escorts4her.com They are engaged in ciminal activities by fraudulently obtaining money from people every over UK. Prior to giving my money to these scammers I tried to do an investigation, I don't know how arrive I eventually got fooled by these criminals. I checked THEIR ADDRESS on online maps, online telephone directories and did not find them. The address they claim to be doing business from is 140A Brompton Road, Knightsbridge, London SW3 1HY Before registration I received a series of calls from girls speaking with european accent (non-English) claiming to be managing bookings of their clients, a lady calling herself Jeri claims to be the caretaker of registered male escorts, she is the one who interviewed me and told me every the lies so i can be fooled and pay the money. I was told a French lady wants me to escort her on a friday but my mobile number cannot be released to her untill I pay the registration fee. I paid the money on a thursday, after that I never got a single call from any of the so called escorts4her staff members. When I call to enquire about the appointment date and time for the escort, the phone rings for ages until someone eventually answers it, she would tend to ignore you and pass you to Jeri, who will ask you to be patient and wait for the call from the client. Later on I got a voice massgae on my mobile from a girl with a non-english accent, claiming that she has been calling me and could not receive me. When I ask these fraudstars their full names, they would question why you want their full names, prior to forwarding my money to them I was told names like Jesica, Jeri, neither of them barely mentioning a last name. Resolved Question: Horse boarding in Southern California?

Now, these are just some preliminary questions I have. I was once looking for a horse but then family money issues arose. But there is once again a possibility of me getting my first horse and there's a few things I need to research. Originally I was looking at boarding at the Huntington Beach stables in California, it's close by my home and they give good care. Sadly they are no longer in my budget range. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good places to board in Southern California. Now this doesn't have to be a big stable, I'd be willing to board in someones backyard if they're zoned for it and have room. I want to stay in the Orange County or L.A. area. Anything beyond that will be to far. I'm willing to pay for my possess feed, vetting bills, and farrier. I'd also muck my possess stall and every that good stuff. Basically every I need is a stable. As for my price range I can consider anything below $300 a month. Preferably around $200 a month would be ideal. Even less would be wonderful. and I've never boarded before but I'm a respectful and responsible seventeen year old with parents who will be quite involved in every my horsey business. Basically, they make the deal I just do the research. If you don't personally know of any available places I'd also adore to maybe receive some links to directories that may have places listed. Saw an advertisement today for something called the Asian Business Network which appears to be nothing more than a business directory featuring 'Asian' run businesses. This coupled with the fact that the location of the ad and the area the directory covers is located in an area heavily populated by the Pakistani community leads me to believe it is simply a cleverly worded way of giving the Pakistani community a method of using businesses and services which they can be 100% sure will be Pakistani staffed and owned, ensuring that the Pakistani community recieves the increased economic benefits. Despite labelling it as Asian, which could of course include anybody from the whole continent of Asia, it is quite reasonable based on what I have seen to believe that this actually just means Pakistani. I have to say I find the principals behind this to be quite offensive and racist, am I wrong and is there somebody I could complain to?

With my website www.non-cease-store.com, it's a website shopping directory, where I advertise companies worldwide by placing there website banners below the areas that they are based at as well as the categories they request also. Though the main problem I have at the moment is with companies who want to receive placed below 1000+ different pages of my 9,000 paged website, as their company is based in 1000 different locations, take The National Lottery for example, I am placing them below 8,500 pages on my website, but I only know the way on adding their website banner to one page at a time. Voting Question: Need a business class wireless router that can go up to 250 feet plus can support multiple users.?

Okay. My client has a windows 2003 tiny business server setup at his home. He needs a decent business router. He has a big warehouse type shed/office in his backyard ( Huge home ). The shed is about 150-200 feet from the home. The router will be in the shed with about 10 computers wired to it via a 24-port switch, the windows 2003 server (Dell Poweredge 2929) will also be wired to this router). In the home there will be about 7-8 laptops ( clients to the 2003 server) that need connectivity to the internet wirelessly and obviously to be able to access the server. I don't want to make a mistake in buying a router and then crying about it. So just looking for opinions / personal experiences that will help me make my decision in purchasing a suitable router. Keep in mind that the number of clients could increase in the future. The server is actively functional as an active directory, domain controller, pop3 mail, IIS website [ SQL, Frontpage], obviously File Server, and possible future server functionality expansion. I was thinking of doing the standard HTML site, but researching Wordpress has me reconsidering. Wordpress seems to have built-in advantages like Twitter feeds, automatic SEO, automatic pinging of directories etc. My big concern is that I want to make sure I have an introductory paragraph about myself and my products, and I want to have pictures of the products featured on the front page, over the fold. I can do that in HTML. Can that be done in Wordpress? Second big concern: I'll want to be able to edit the site later (add new products, etc.). I can do minor editing in HTML, but I know nothing about Wordpress (other than...it's a pain to work with). I don't want to become a programmer either. Are there people out there who can help with the setup and support? Thanks!

Resolved Question: Address in the Philadelphia City Directories?

I have found many references to my ancestor in the Philadelphia City Directories during the 1860s that match this one " " Thomas, shoemaker, 114 Exchange pl, h 933 S 9th I am assuming that Exchange is the road that my ancestor worked at however I cannot find the road on google maps or on the city directory maps. I would like to know where this is and what business was there. Does anyone know where to look now?

Puppy Mills: Holocaust For the 21st Century Atrocious... Abhorrent... Inhumane... Sickening... These are only a few of the adjectives that arrive to my mind when I think about the growing number of commercial mass puppy breeding operations that are thriving throughout the USA and Canada at this very minute. A dog and puppy "holocaust" is taking place, with "canine concentration camps" in every state and province. Most of us have heard about puppy mills, but (and I am guilty of this, too) we avert our eyes and minds from them - because the truth is just too horrible to think about. Well I received my "wake up call" yesterday when a "responsible breeder" attempted to post advertising on "Responsible Breeders Showcase", my web site dedicated to responsible dog ownership and responsible dog breeding. In checking out this breeder, as I do with every breeder that wants to showcase their dogs and puppies on my service, a search deep into the bowels of Google revealed a shocking document which told me just what this breeder was every about. She had been charged with numerous counts of animal cruelty and neglect, every related to her keeping breeding dogs in a barn without adequate care. Many of the dogs had to be euthanized due to injury and illness as a result of this neglect. There was even mention of findings of dead dog carcasses left amongst the living dogs. Despite these charges, the breeder was still in business. In searching Google for information about this breeder, I was shocked to discover just how many "breeder directories" had allowed her to advertise - no questions asked. I was disgusted and alarmed. Sadly, the Internet has become an advertising Mecca for puppy mills, back yard breeders, puppy brokers, and others who profit from misery. The number of commercial dog breeding operations in the USA and Canada has more than doubled in the past 10 years, and their numbers are still on the rise. With high-profile celebrities like Paris Hilton, Nicole Ritchie and Britney Spears waltzing into pet stores and buying puppies like fashion accessories, it's no wonder that there is such a market for these cruel profiteers to exploit. The public sees only adorable little teacup puppies being toted around in designer dog carriers - what they don't look is the haunted look in the eyes of the parents of that cute little puppy - the dogs who live and breathe solely for the purpose of producing more and more "cute little puppies", confined in cages and runs, often without adequate food, shelter, room, clean water or veterinary care - and ALWAYS without the one thing that dogs thrive on - human companionship. The term, "Puppy Mill" has been used to label many types of dog breeders, and there are many who disagree on what the definition of a "Puppy Mill" really is. Certain radical animal activists would have dog breeding in general against the law (which would likely look the extinction of most of our most beloved purebred dog breeds within about 10 years) For me, a "puppy mill" is a "dog factory", where dogs are seen as "equipment" and puppies as "the product". Like any business, the goal is to make the most money possible while keeping costs to a minimum. Dogs are kept like livestock, in tiny pens or cages, and bred at every opportunity until they are too old or sick to be of further use to the "factory". Once this occurs, these dogs are "disposed of" - either killed or sold to laboratories to be subjected to further mistreatment. Not every commercial breeding operations are this bad - and most are not this good. I'm not going to fill this article with graphic photos of neglected dogs standing behind chicken wire - or cooped up in tiny, dirty pens barely big enough for them to turn around in, much less receive the daily exercise a dog needs to remain healthy. I'm not going to detail the stories of gross neglect and abuse that so many breeding dogs and puppies endure at the hands of their owners. What I AM going to do is hopefully incite a call to action, outlining what we, as dog owners and dog lovers can do to help make puppy mills go away forever. Like the man who coined the term "Man's Best pal", I have always seen dogs as loving, joyful, innocent, forgiving, intelligent animals. I've heard that dogs have the intellectual capacity of a 4 year old human child. I adore dogs, and I really have to wonder how these charming and wonderful creatures can be treated with such disdain by lawmakers. How can it be legal to "farm" dogs like cattle, regulated only by the USDA (US Department of Agriculture), who ensure only that each dog's "basic requirements for life" are met? How can it be acceptable in our advanced society for 1 person to possess in excess of 250 dogs, and do with them as they please? How can the "Companion Animal Act" omit the one thing "companion" animals require the most - companionship!? Resolved Question: How do they, (whoever THEY are) figure that discontinuing White Pages will save trees?

I think we NEED our White Pages!!! I bet they could keep 10 times more trees if they discontinued every of the excess yellow page/advertising phone books and enforced a ban on junk/spam mail!!! My tiny town of 28,000 people has at least 7 phone books. A couple are yellow page/advertising only. The relax are yellow and white page listings. The only one that is accurate is the directory from the local telephone company--Century Link. The others have residential listings that are out of date. I've seen business listings in the yellow pages for stores that closed more than 20 years ago. Problem is, I have to have every 7 books at my home, because not every business advertises in every book. My personal residential listing for my land line isn't in every book. I often have to hunt through 2-7 books to find what I'm looking for. Format is different in each book. A business may list in the white pages and yellow pages of one book, or only the business section or only the white page section of the other books. I'd like to look just ONE book for my area--a combination yellow/white page book. That would eliminate 6 extra books. That would keep a LOT of trees--more than eliminating white pages every together. Metropolitan areas would have different needs, but they could probably clip down on books, too. It's every about the advertising. My monthly land line bill includes a fee for publication of my listing in the white pages. I want that to continue. receive RID OF JUNK MAIL--create legislation that regulates and ACTUALLY ENFORCES IT. Just last week, I received two hefty envelopes from a local cable/dish company trying to sell me their services. They called me twice on the phone. I have no relationship with this company, and am on both the state and federal "no call list." At one time, I also went on an "anti spam-junk mail" type list to try and cease some of the junk mail I receive. It's ANNOYING! I have to recycle it--that takes time out of my day, and wastes heat opening up the door to bring it in, take it out to the recycling bin, and arrive back in the home. receive rid of the junk mail, receive rid of the multiple junk phone books. Let's just have what is necessary, and make it accurate. We'd keep a BILLIONS more trees if we knocked of the foolishness h crumby phone books and junk mail instead of the white pages, which are still necessary. I adore the TREES- the MORE, the BETTER! Resolved Question: Why has Yahoo dropped my website from its search engine/directory results?

My website always ranked on page 1 of Yahoo in keyword searches and in some cases it was in the no. 2 spot. I also had a high ranking on Yahoo local. I just discovered that my website has been eliminated in the last week or two from both Yahoo search results and Yahoo local business listings. Why? My website always ranked on the first page in Yahoo Search with the top keywords for my business. For the most popular keyword, I was no. 2. I also had a high ranking on Yahoo local. But, I recently discovered that sometime in the last week or two, my website ranking just did not drop, my website has been eliminated in Yahoo Search keyword queries and has been eliminated from Yahoo local business listings. My title, description and keyword meta tags every are appropriate to my business, are found in my web pages, and are like my top competitors. I have not keyword stuffed. So, why the major diss from Yahoo?
